It will prompt you for a new vncpassword and immediately change the vncpassword. If prompted, enter the user name and password. Troubleshooting: If you have forgotten your vnc password, or wish to change it use the vncpasswd command. On the client computer, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Sharing. The Mac viewer doesnt support RealVNCs system authentication, which allows you to login as a system user.

This password is arbitrarily chosen by you. Mac OSX comes with a built-in VNC client called Screen Sharing located at /System/Library/CoreServices/Screen Sharing.app. You will be prompted for a password to log you into your VNC session (This is _not_ like logging in with your MCECS account. This will start the VNC server on the machine and tell it to only accept connections from the localhost, which is to say from users logged into the machine hosting the VNC server. In a terminal, run the following command: vncserver In order to do this, ssh in to the machine where you’ll be accessing the remote desktop.
Before we can connect to the remote desktop, we need to start the VNC server on the remote machine.
